I am sterdam

Thanks to my wonderful boy I got to spend the last weekend in Amsterdam. Jupi! :)

I actually can not believe I've never been before. I absolutely fell for that city (red light district being an exception). The architecture, the boathouses, the apartments filled with books up to the ceilings and the effortless & natural style of the residents -> what's not to love?!

Being organised as I am despite the fact that it was my boy looking after the whole trip, I made sure to check if there's anything of my (fashion) interest to see. I wasn't disappointed. The December issue of The Irish Tatler recommends every fashionista's Amsterdam heaven - The Museum of Bags & Purses.

Stocked with historic as well as the latest, most envious handbags, the place has a real charm, character and is truly worth visiting. Located in the city centre and easily accessible will not waste too much of your time and is sure to please an eye :) If your man isn't as patience as mine (he actually went around the place with me!) he'll definitely enjoy a cup of tea in a gorgeous museum cafe.

Some of my favourites were the 'scruffy' Vivienne Westwood bag, Paul Smith's extra cool old school car bag and beautiful shoes by Stella McCartney (unfortunately a bit out of focus). My boy's faves were the two jewelled evening bags by Kathrine Baumann - not a bad taste for a man my dear ;)

In search of inspiration

Somewhere between terrible weather, lack of work, being broke and trying to make all the important relationships work, my inspiration for clothes or rather clothes AND writing got lost. I've been trying to scribble something for a while now. No luck.

So here are just few pointers that are kind of on my mind...

1. An appeal to all the girls out there who do not look at themselves in a mirror before they leave their house in a jacket... well, like that:

I'm not trying to be nasty here. Everyone has their bad days/buys etc. But this? in November? in Dublin? white?! Good luck for anyone trying to pull it off.

2. "Fashion is all about eventually becoming naked" -> I'm just loving this quote :)

3. River Island have new 'day to night' looks and the black skinny jeans are my definite winner. The day outfit is so cool and casual with that tee and cardigan and the outfit for the night... well, you just couldn't ask for more.

The jeans

The day look

The night look

4. I've made my first good sale on ebay - the dress that was used only once, worn by my friend for a photoshot and was definitely going to waste. I'm nearly proud of myself ;)

The best dressed Dub?

Ouch, I haven't been around for long... There is an explanation though-I'm not that lazy yet! I was in Wales for a while and my dad has been over since I got back so I'm a bit busy. Now, explained :)

I actually thought Wales would be great 'material' for the blog. How wrong was I? Disappointing but after getting back I realised there wasn't a single person whose look stuck in my mind long enough that I could describe it. The only 2 things were 2 great dresses in my friend's wardrobe - the black, torn, 'witchy' minidress and the cutest ever pale and black fancy collar dress.

Back to present. I had quite a busy day. Graduation (I'm an emotional type of person who actually cares - even my boy laughed), shopping (read: running around), interview, cooking for my family (no, I don't cook, yes my family knows, why then? sometimes they just enjoy 'torturing' me and coming in for homemade dinners-I still love them).

In between those I saw someone who is more than worth mentioning. Someone who made me feel completely underdressed, reminded me that my fringe needs a hairdresser like never before but at the same time made me go...wooow!

That someone looked like she was out of a magazine. No, I mean really. Take a mag and cut someone's picture out. You'll get a pic of her. Certainly the best dressed and best looking girl in Dub today! So what was the look?

Grunge grey chunky boots, skin-tight black leather trousers, very see-through lace black top, bikini-type black bra, short fitted black sculptured shoulder jacket. Add really skinny silhouette, blond perfectly straight and messy at the same time hair and here we go: everyone on the street was stearing at her.

You Miss made me feel scruffy. I forgive you; simply fantastic look!
