The Ultimate Girls Day Out & pretty skulls

As it's already become a tradition, last weekend I hit the Ultimate Girls Day Out. Unfortunately our bunch has been smaller than ever due to some sad circumstances but the 3 of us who could still make it decided to stick to the plan.

I always look forward to the Girls Day Out. How can you not? Organised by one of the leading Irish magazines, Irish Tatler, an event strictly for girls where you get to drink champagne from 10 am, see couple of good  fashion shows, collect some free samples and goodie bags, do a bit of shopping and pampering. For a group of friends, there was definitely nothing better to do on a Saturday (unless you watch rugby/football, whatever it was that was being played that day and I have no interest in ;) or so it seemed. After attending the event every year I must say this was by far the poorest one I've been to. I won't go on about it as you might have liked it or you work for Harmonia and I wouldn't like to hurt your feelings (I'm sure it was still a lot of work). The amount of stalls with fake bags and jewellery was overwhelming; there were no goddie bags to be seen and hardly any samples. There wasn't much to buy either unless you were still on the look out for Urban Decay's Naked. Summing up? All my friends vowed not to come out again.

Moving on, let me show you something more interesting and prettier. If you don't call it pretty you ain't my friend ;)

I only saw them for the first time about 5 minutes ago but I am already crazy about them! I'm not a person for small rings but this is a delicate, small ring perfection.

9-to-5 # Orange & Ombre

I've just realised my last 9-to-5 outfit was really summery which is not a good sign when we're pretty much in autumn!

I haven't stopped working so here's my take on working wardrobe again, fresh from this morning ;)

It's getting colder by a day but I'm sticking to bright colours to inject a little bit of sunshine on dreary days.

I also had a go at my hair (all by myself! trying out the ombre style) and it's gone orange at the beginning (at least it matched the blouse) but it's getting blonder and brighter now. I'm actually quite happy with the effect and I'm tempted to push it even higher...

Blouse - Forever21
Necklace - Topshop
Skirt - Sfera
Shoes - Dunnes
Jacket - H&M
Scarf - second-hand
Bag - Topshop

I'm finally starting to like the block heel too, hey, it's never too late ;)

One of the biggest fashion basics is back in town (has it ever left?) and it's back in unlimited amounts of shapes, colours and styles.

I just stocked up on couple of new shirts which for me, a 9-5 girl, are a basis for many outfits. Thanks to the fact that shirts are now not only neccessary but also fashionable, there's no longer fear of looking totally boring while wearing them.

Here's my little 'shirtlist' of shirts around town and where you can find a similar (or nicer) style, probably at a fraction of the price...

If Ms Chung is wearing it, we will soon all be wearing it... White dotty shirt - Zara - € 39.95

Ashley Olsen in a white shirt; Classic Woven Shirt - Forever21 - € 19.75

Rachel Bilson in a printed blouse; Patterned Shirt - Topshop - around € 55

Katie Holmes in a pretty blouse with an oversized bow; Bow detail shirt - Forever21 - € 23.75

I can't wait to stock up on some more pretty styles :)

Embrace the colour

With the summer weather fading away at the speed of light, I'm gradually beginning to embrace autumnal colours. I am absolutely in love with burgundy and the trousers below are simply my bestest friends right now.

I am also on a look out for the perfect ankle boots. Anyone have any advice? I kinda have it in my head what I want but the problem is they're nowhere to be found.. Is it possibly God sending me a message saying I should design and make them myself? Hmm that's not a bad thought ;)

(I'm still trying to figure out how to takes pics at my boy's so sorry for funny lighting and angles)

T-shirt - Primark
Trousers - River Island
Heels - Zara
Necklace - River Island
Glasses - vintage Sabana
Belt - Primark

Catching up on my fashion mags at the weekend I came across a note in Stellar saying necklaces are totally out for winter and the era of earrings is to begin. Using that as the best excuse ever (I always end up never wearing any earrings I've ever bought) I picked these up in Forever21. Sooo rockalicious :)

Hardly mediocre Midi

When I first saw the photo shoot by Lachlan Bailey (styled by Miranda Almond, model: Arizona Muse) my heartbeat sped up and I experienced a recently forgotten type of excitement. Fantastic photographs, exquisite styling and well, the model that could not be more perfect for the shoot.

We've all seen it, we've all worn it, the midi skirt seems to have been snapped in million different ways by billions of fashion enthusiasts by now. This I think, is what makes some, us, mere followers of fashion and others, Ms Almond, masters of it.

Coast to Coast

Coast has just released their AW 11 lookbook and boy, am I surprised!
Positively of course. You might say I'm not very open minded but all I can think of when I think Coast is wedding and dinner wear.

I have officially completely changed my mind today. I can't actually believe that working literally beside a Coast store I have not been in for ages (yes, since the last time I was in search for wedding wear..).

Their AW lookbook is full of simple and extremely smart pieces that are not only great day wear but can very easily be carried over to the night and transformed into sophisticated evening wear.

I particularly like the whites, blacks and beiges in the colour range and the way they're put together. I was trying to limit the selection in this post to a minimum but could simply not ignore of any of those;

Need I say more?

Oh yeah, I'm heading down to the shop tomorrow, want to join me? ;)

Off duty

Everyone has their off duty look. For most, that means jumping into a pair of jeans or tracksuit and flats.

To get some inspiration for off duty look, I went to (in my opinion) masters of that art. The ladies who normally totter around in perfectly put together designer clothes and get paid for it, the models themselves.

A lot of them have a fantastic style for after hour laid back look and here are some that I really like;

I particularly like Anja Rubik's look. Below is a combination of clothes to get the look - on the high street of course. She makes me wanna go blond!

BTW fantastic tan is obviously compulsory ;)
