Do the right thing

Apparently one of the coolest shoes out there right now, it took me a while to convince myself to these espadrilles. I could see them worn at home, as slippers, but I wouldn't really classify them as cool footwear... sorry Toms, just being honest!

They finally caught my attention when I found out that for every pair sold, Toms donates a pair of shoes to a child in need. Charity doesn't get much better then that, it's amazing that companies do that and I'm a huge supporter. I also tried on a pair that my boy bought and can't stop praising for their comfort. They are pretty comfy to say the least and I'm beginning to think that I could totally pull them off ;)

Here, another example that while being fashionable you can still do the right thing! BTW if that doesn't sell them for you, maybe the fact that Mila Kunis is a fan does..? (definitely worked for me too)

Tamp and Stitch

I am super-delayed with this post but hey, it's summer and you simply can't expect me to be as efficient as always! ;)

I recently attended a photography workshop which was actually great and finally I understand that there's WAY more I can do with my camera than the automatic settings!! better late than never again ;)

As it turned out to be a beautiful day, I thought I will share with you few snaps I took on the day which are just at the bottom of this post.

What I really want to talk about though is the coolest little cafe I discovered during our field trip. Tamp and Stitch is located on Essex Str West in Temple Bar and it's a real dream come true for me: a combination of quirky, cool, designer fashion and an espresso bar. It doesn't get much better than that! As all I had on me that day was my camera, I didn't even get to taste the espresso but I plan to rectify that asap as it really did seem like the place to be, be seen at and most of all: have a great espresso!

Time and again

Serial stacking is a huge trend this season, when it comes to wrist candy. With a party happening on everyone’s arm, I thought it's about time I add a pretty watch to the mix. Daniel Wellington was my brand of choice for its classic and preppy look. Only recently launched in Ireland, it's one of Swedish fashion enthusiasts favourite brand and in my case, it was definitely love at first sight;)

I am already thinking what other style of a strap I should order...they're all so cool!

Better late than never!

Exactly 1 week late I finally get to mention my recent appearance in the Irish Independent. Huge thanks to the lovely Niamh O'Rourke for chatting to me after the Ebay's fashion show and most importantly: taking more than just 1 photo ;)

What is your...
  • Favourite shop?
Vintage, charity and second-hand shops in general.
  • Best bargain buy?
A powder-pink silk, short T-shirt dress by Michael Kors reduced from € 260 to € 20 in Tk
          Maxx.
  • Biggest splurge?
A pair of black leather, pointy pumps by Christian Louboutin for € 500 from Brown Thomas.
  • Best- and worst-dressed style icons?
The best is Kate Moss and the worst is Lady Gaga.*
  • Favourite label or designer?
          Chanel
  • Monthly spend on clothes?
          About €500 **
  • Last fashion buy?
Printed silk, vintage scarves on ebay.
  • Biggest fashion mistake?
          A very short, white dress.
  • What do you love and hate in fashion?
I love pushing the boundaries and how you can do whatever you want in fashion and I hate the
fact that everyone is wearing Jeffrey Campbell shoes right now. ***

* What?! I'm obviously not great with on-spot interviews. Style icon should obviously be Miroslava Duma and worst-dressed hm... we all have our ups and downs so I can't really blame anyone.
** My boyfriend had a good laugh at that, apparently that's if I didn't actually go shopping every day..
*** Just to clarify, I love Jeffrey and recently got a spiked pair of loafers by JC which I am crazy about. What I actually meant was the fact that you can't spend 5 min in town without bumping into Lita...

The festival look

Anyone who knows me well will most likely say that I'm very much a city girl. I must admit that I am. Camping or any sort of outdoors activities never sounded like much fun to me, unless, of course, sun loungers, hats and drinks with pretty umbrellas were involved ;)

A girl has to take a different approach from time to time though. For me, it only happens if there's good music involved.

The summer festival look barely applies to Ireland but I tried to be positive and prepared a 'best case scenario' outfit (as in for actual summer weather). This is what I would ideally wear to Snow Patrol and Florence today. It's comfy, summery, light and pretty. Spiked bracelet and studded belt add some edge. I mightn't get to wear it tonight (I hope Florence will stick to her fab floaty dresses!) but summer ain't over yet! I will keep it at the top of my 'best festival looks' list for sure ;)

Fringe

The fringed, leather mini skirt was kept on hold for me by a dear friend who knew exactly how excited I will be to get my hands on it (taking into account the amazing discount she gets too).

It has immediately become one of my favourite wardrobe items, one of those that hang in the wardrobe and you just adore but, well, honestly you never actually wear.

I wore it once on a girly night out but found that paired with heels it shows off too much leg for my own liking and so, it was once again 'filed' with 'pretty but impractical' crowd.
Clothes that are not really suitable for many occasions, the way this skirt isn't, always seem like a bit of a challenge for me. So I decided to take on the challenge and try to make this skirt work for occasions other than just a night on town.

Casual Friday at work, family gathering, college presentation... although it's still short, the flat sandals make it look less extreme and the simple, smart and a little conservative top balances it out. Colourful clutch adds a bit of colour but still keeping it simple.

Designer stamps

I always thought I'm not much of a collector. As a child, I was on and off things all the time: be it porcelain elephants (my sister held an interesting collection), dried plants (you could find them in most books in the house, I think it was my other sis) or pictures of models taken out of magazines. I never seemed to stick to collecting one thing for too long although fashion related interests were always in some way reflected in my (always changing) hobbies.

You wouldn't believe my excitement though when I received a very unexpected present yesterday ... which turned out to be a collection of stamps.
Not just some stamps though - the fashion designer stamps! I must have been hiding under a tree for the last few weeks as I seem to be the only person who hasn't heard of their launch... Right now, I don't care anyway as I am the only person (I know) who owns them!
This is a hell of a cool pressie.... and it takes up SO much less space than my shoe collection ;)

My fab collection in a fab display..
