Pick of the season

If I had to pick just one designer item from SS'13 collections (held against my will in Brown Thomas or something ;) it would most likely (see? I still leave myself some space) be this dress. It's just perfect (including the subtle tan but I would throw in a smile or two as well).

All the BENEFITs

I won't lie to you, although I'm very aware of how important a good face cleaning routine is, I'm possibly the worst person in the world for it. I 'compensate' for it by covering my sins with tonnes of makeup the next morning.

This year, I try to look after my skin a little better and I decided to wear less makeup and use products that allow that.

Arnotts sell Benefit make up and The POREfessional by Benefit was my first choice. My skin seems to change a lot (oily, dry - I have it all) and what bothers me most about it is the spots and marks that they leave which can be visible even under a heavy foundation. I effectively use these almost throughout the year and my skin is only getting worse...

First impressions of the product? The texture is absolutely amazing and it makes your face feel great. I used it as a primer, under makeup, to even out my skin. I also tried lightweight foundation on top of it, instead of a usual heavy stuff and I was delighted to see that it looked really well! It helps makeup stay on for longer as well, which I noticed already although I will be putting it through a real test tomorrow - after a full day in work and an evening out.
As opposed to primers I have used previously (definitely not cheap, Sephora's being the worst), this one doesn't turn into sticky stuff on your face or crumble.

Another Benefit cosmetic on my fave list (pretty packaging, as always, welcome too).

Go monochrome or go home

White has dominated many catwalks for SS'13. It's graphic, it's linear and it's very simple. That's exactly how I styled my outfit. It's monochrome and very modern, suitable for any occasion and also totally office - appropriate. I am not into the all-white look but I will definitely get a few accessories in white. You can invest in those - they won't age.

These Topshop boots are Stella McCartney - inspired and although very simple - they're a statement in themselves.

Butterlicious

Butter London has launched their SS'13 colour range in wonderfully sweet 6 new shades: Fruit Machine, Fiver, Jasper, Molly Coddled, Cuppa & Kerfuffle.

The range has been (very appropriately) named the Sweetie Shop and is just perfect for spring. If you don't want to splash out on new clothes, make your outfit spring-appropriate with the right shade on your nails!

I have been mad about these colours from the moment I saw them and feel warmer just looking at my pretty nails ;) You can get them in Avoca (along with other pretty stuff ;).

Some delicious photos from the launch coming your way below..

SS13 by House of Fraser

A few days ago I got an opportunity to join the lovely crowd at House of Fraser for SS'13 press preview. The store focused on 4 following trends for the season: print, monochrome, sports luxe and metallics. A really amazing selection of dresses was also on display, many of them were a very sweet prom style.

I'm getting really into the sports luxe style. I can see myself stocking up on the comfy pants / skirts in grey & neon. The comfortable slouchy clothes are the ones I don't need much convincing to!

Enough talking, I will show you some of my fave styles from the preview.

Bombastic

Bomber jackets are in for the spring (they're pretty much in since last summer). I would recommend going for one but I wouldn't splash out on it - it's a seasonal item & the high street is full of great, inexpensive options. Add some cool accessories, a bit of attitude and this bad boy will work hard for you - both day and night.

I tend to pair it with simple staples such as white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans. I add a little bit of interest and lift the outfit with high heels and few accessories.
