Shortlisted

I have recently had an opportunity to attend a preview of autumn collections for a few interesting brands: Second Female, Land's End, Simone Perele and Olsen. I wasn't familiar with some of them so it was great to have a look at their AW collections to get a feel for the brands.
What did I see and more importantly, did I like it? Heck yeah!

Second Female is very Scandinavian and in case you didn't hear, I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to their style. I was instantly in love as you'll notice below (I took loads of photos of their stuff).

Land's End is much more casual than the type of clothes I would normally go for but it had some great basics and we all know, there isn't much you can do without those!

Olsen had it's own style and I really liked it for this, I can't actually compare it to any other brand which is very positive (it's not easy to find something different nowadays!).

Last but definitely not least, Simone Perele presented a stunning range of lingerie.

See for yourself in these few snaps below.

This has (almost literally) got my name on it! ;)

Summer boots

I didn't understand the idea of summer boots for a while. It took a few years for the realisation that the summer is not coming (again) to sink in. Once it did, I started stocking up on boots.
I now own 10+ ankle boots at any given time. Why would I need that many boots?
1. Weather: rain or shine, they always work.
2. Comfortable heel height: the holy grail of shoes. Get the heel right & you will live happily ever after. Most ankle boots will do that for you.
3. They go with everything but you still need different styles and colours for the many different garments: shorts, skirts, trousers, jeans, dresses and so on!

Summer glow

I've been asked about my tan several times recently so I thought I'll share this with you. I've been a fan of Dove products for a while but recently they just keep on impressing me. I now refuse to use shampoo or conditioner any other than Dove simply because my hair is never as nice then. When it comes to daily moisturising I'm committed to E45 (sorry, nothing beats it for me) but every few days I use Dove lotion as well. They're super hydrating and the smell is gorgeous! They're a tad too rich for me on a daily basis but save my life when my skin needs an extra kick.

Back to the glow though! You probably know where this is heading. Since the sun is nowhere to be seen in Dublin and I still want to be occasionally able to sport summer clothes, I gave Dove summer glow a go.

This is not a fake tan product so you need to work with it a little and it takes a couple of applications to get the right result. Once you do though, it's fantastic. I use it every few days now to keep the lovely, tanned look without turning orange, yellow or any other colour.

I've recently passed a bottle on to my sister to try it out and a friend had a look at it at the time. She coldn't ger over the smell which is just amazing. It also gives a little bit of shimmer to the skin without being too shiny.

I use the 'fair to medium' regularly and the darker one sporadically when I want a darker result.

I always liked Dove campaigns which promote the image of real women - another reason I will stand by them!

The season's favourite

Every season there is a piece of clothing that I buy and wearing it makes me simply happy. It's rarely anything fancy, it might be something I picked up in a charity shop or was passed on to me from a friend / family member. There's a certain comfort and sentiment I feel towards these items. By the end of the season, they're usually worn to bits and should not really be kept on but I tend to hold on to them for that bit longer.

This outfit combines 4 such items! 2 accessories and 2 clothing pieces.

The heels and the blouse are both Zara and they're both SS'12 (I know what you think, they're out by one year! feck it, I love them). I have fallen for both the moment I saw them and I lived in them last summer. I can't let them go just yet though.

The trousers are H&M and the bag is by Lacambra. These are my SS'13 absolute favourites! These trousers must be the comfiest thing I had in a long time and they instantly remind me that it's summer (we're back to Irish weather after all). The bag is the palest shade of pink, the softest to touch leather and the perfect size for my 2 phones, cards and lipstick. It goes with everything and gets tons of compliments anywhere I go.

So here we are, not necessarily out with the old but still in with the new. They seem to get on, don't you think?

'The House' review

All my life I had a passion for three things and this blog has been born out of two of them: fashion and writing. The third one is food and if you're ever looking for restaurant recommendation, recipes or simply want to have some cake, give me a shout!

I've been recently asked to review a book for Bord Gais Energy's Book Club and as a bookworm and aspiring writer, I couldn't be happier to contribute. Good book + an opportunity to write about it = happy me.

The review is now available via their website (HERE) and I hope that you'll check it out.

In case you want to know a little bit more about me in general, my Bio on their website explains a lot actually. Read it HERE.

Fickle

Irish weather, women, fashion... we're all fickle and a little (to say the least) unpredictable at times. Trying to work with the weather and have some fun with fashion at the same time, I went for a rather unconventional combo. A white organza skirt and a men's basketball jacket are not the first two things you think of putting together. They're actually most likely the two things that you keep very much away in your wardrobe (ie. sporty section & dressy section -> no cross over between the two).

I am a fickle woman though who lives in Dublin where the weather changes from one minute to another and who likes to try different things when it comes to fashion. Not extreme, just different. So here's my devious outfit of a day.

Stylitics - a wardrobe revolution

It must be nearly 2 weeks since I discovered Stylitics. I was skeptical at first, I rarely stick with anything that required regular content update and any sort of discipline. Not that Stylitics does, you're not obliged to do much but I thought if I want to make this work, I need to put some work into it.
It turned out to be much easier than I thought (no work, just fun) and I'm delighted to say that I am not only still using Stylitics, I am totally hooked!

It's the best tool I have found so far for organising your wardrobe. If you have a smartphone, you can 'record' all your wardrobe items in literally minutes. A quick photo, 3 quick details and the item is up in your virtual wardrobe. Now why would we waste the time doing that if we have an actual, real life wardrobe? I wondered too (we're all doubtful creatures). I found that I finally have a better idea of what I own (even though I still have many more items to record...), how often I wear things, how much I spend on clothes etc. Within the first few days I realised that some items in my wardrobe were getting loooads of wear and other (very similar), none!

I don't want to get into too much detail, all I will say is give it a go, it's SO worth it.

A few images of Stylitics below and link to my profile (you will now be able to have a gander through my wardrobe, in case you care). I'm one of Stylitics' Featured Stylists and I am open to help out with your wardrobe dilemmas!
