Discovering new stores and new ways to shop in general is one of my fave pass times. Since everyone seems to shop online now and picking out a vintage-style dress on some random shopping site no longer guarantees that 2 other girls won't be wearing the same dress that night, I really consider it a challenge to find a new spot to shop.
Once I do, I like to share though which is why probably it doesn't remain a secret... But, as they say, happiness shared is happiness doubled (do they? they should) and I'm happy to share with you my recent discovery.

SportsDirect is not a new destination for me. My boy introduced me to their site during one of their massive sales. A huge bag was soon delivered and I'm wearing one of my faves from that first shopping spree as I write now (Everlast furry hoody heaven). I've been a regular since. I discovered that their range of suitcases is the best in terms of choice and value I could find. I also went a bit mad when I started boxing and discovered their Lonsdale layered vests... for any lady doing any workout - these are perfection.

I decided to dig a little deeper on their site and find something less sporty and more fashion forward. As always, I wasn't disappointed. Their jackets selection offers many amazing pieces (I'm still considering a tempting parka) which can definitely be worn outside a gym. Below is my recent purchase, as always - amazing value and this time I can wear it to work!

Light at the end of the tunnel

The dark, dreary and short days of autumn can 'weight' you down. Bright colours are usually pushed aside and black tends to dominate our lives from late October.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in for black. It's slimming, elongating and oh-so-easy. But it often doesn't do much for my mood so when it's particularly 'blah' outside, I try to push myself & get the light blues out of the bottom of the wardrobe.

It felt truly refreshing to step out wearing this outfit and my gorge Natalie B Coleman tote bag provided the necessary fun factor.

Try it next time you're at the dark tunnel!

Bootcut jeans & polo neck tops - a no no?

I can't stop thinking that there's at least 1 person in the world that now thinks I am not to be trusted when it comes to clothes. She's probably right too..
Let me explain.
About a year ago I was asked to do a little wardrobe 'resurrection' for someone. When reviewing the contents of my customer's wardrobe, I realised it's full of polo neck jumpers & tops. I wasn't sure how to break the news (it's never easy) but I strongly expressed my view on roll necks: they are never to be worn by anyone who actually owns a neck.
I swore on my own wardrobe that any such thing would not be ever seen even near my closet.

And here we are, a year later...

What can I say. I'm sure I swore on skinnies before as well so it's only appropriate that I paired my Orla Kiely printed top for Uniqlo with a pair of bootcut jeans. It happened to be the perfect outfit for the crazy weather the day had it in for us. Neck or no, I stayed warm!

Let's get dressed up

With Christmas parties, fancy dinners and festive events in mind, this time of the year is often all about occasion wear and accessories. A few great evening dresses are really important in every wardrobe. You need to look to brands that know how to do them and are not just trying to 'age' their frilly mini dresses. That won't do. When it comes to 'proper', good evening dress I think Monsoon is always going to come to the rescue.
Here are my few picks from their AW collection.

All dresses by Monsoon.

Similar enough, when it comes to accessories, whether it's an evening clutch, a grungy bracelet or a present for your bestie, Accessorize is one of the few reliable places. There's no way I can ever enter their stores and leave empty-handed. There's definitely something for everyone, any time of the year.

Here are some of my favorite picks from what they have in store now.

Happy shopping.

Oversized love

I have to admit I am extremely excited about this post.
In case you got your hopes up - I've no big news to break: no weddings, pregnancies or break ups to announce.

I'm excited because this look is SO me.

With certain expectations from readers and the fact that my blog is openly available to anyone I work with or used to be friends with or maybe bumped into before but don't really know, I often find that it's hard to stay true to my own style. After all, we all try to live up to expectations and images of us that other people have created. It's probably not a nice way to put it but I feel that it's true. I may have my own take on a certain trend or look but most of the time, they reflect what most people wear and want to see on a fashion blog at this particular time.

There are outfits though that I love, clothes that make me smile just when I throw them over my shoulders and feel the familiar fabric. They bring a certain level of comfort and happiness to me. They are also the clothes that my friends define as 'I wouldn't wear that but it's so you' and my boy just rolls his eyes.

This is one such outfit. It defines everything I love about oversized coats, vintage skirts, sexy little tops, fringed boots and clutch bags. This feels right & even if it looks mental to you, I could dance my life away wearing these clothes.
